Water Filter for Malaysian homes
Home Tips February 7th, 2007Few months ago, I was looking for a good water filter for my house.
After reading all the information I can actually find on Malaysian websites, I was horribly confused on which one should I get. So, I narrowed down the selection to 3 types of water filters:
- Waterco
- Blondal Hydroguard
- UE-Tec
Why did I choose the latter? I will share the experience behind it.
I called Waterco supplier and asked them about the line of filters they have. They told me that Waterco has 10-year warranty on its tank and 1-year warranty on its valve (the knob that you twist to do backwashing).

I also remember that Jusco Shopping Centre do sell Waterco at their Home Center section. So, my wife and I head on to Jusco to go and have a look. Once we reached at the promotion site, I immediately noticed that there are no more Waterco filters displayed. Instead there another brand called UE-Tec Water Filter completely replacing Waterco.
So, we went on to have a chat with the UE-Tec salesgirl. She said that her company used to sell Waterco but after so much of after sales service of by which Waterco usually creates tons of problems, it just isn’t worth to sell Waterco anymore. And soon, she started to show all the pictures taken at their Service Center with Waterco filters were either badly broken or just didn’t want to function anymore.
The price for Waterco is around RM2000 for a reasonable household usage.
UE-Tec
Then later, she started to do the sales talk on UE-Tec water filter. She showed me all the certified recognitions the filter received. And because they have already in the business 15 years, they definitely know in out of water filters. Did I mention that this water filter is assembled by the company itself.
I was quite satisfied with the UE-Tec presentations and plus with the 2-year valve/10-year tank warranty, it does have a slight advantage compared to Waterco. Everything else is just the same with Waterco e.g; sand filter type, USA Pentair tank etc. So, we signed up with the free 1-week trial to use the water filter and head home.
The price for UE-Tec is around RM2300 for a middle bigger size one. After a bargain with the sales girl, she lowered it to RM2100.
Blondal Hydroguard

Few days later, I came across with this another water filter that was installed at my sister’s house. She told me that, the filter has both 10-year warranty on its valve and tank. I was surprised to have known that.
I quickly surf their website to find out more information. Some of its prominent features it has Activated Carbon inside the filter to take out the Chlorine used to threat the water before enter to consumer’s house.
Then I started to think that I might just choose Hydroguard as my water filter. However, the price is little bit too steep and plus the Carbon needs to be changed every 2 years which cost around RM480 per replacement.
The price for the bigger tank of Hydroguard is RM2999 and will increase every year.
Decided
I soon called UE-Tec sales girl to cancel my 1-week trial. She was quite frustrated when I did that. I explained to her why I would choose Hydroguard as my choice. She acknowledged it and we hung up.
In about 10 minutes or so when I’m about to contact the Hydroguard installer, I received a call from a lady claimed to be the manager for UE-Tec water filter. She was trying to convince me not to change to Hydroguard. She would actually give me all benefit I would gain from Hydroguard WITH the same price I already agreed previously. That means 10-year warranty on both Valve and Tank with the price of only RM2100. ON TOP OF THAT, she added in a Carbon filter to be installed in the kitchen so that the water will be chlorine-free when boiling for drinking.
Being kiasu myself, I’d say what the heck. After all, it’s cheaper and I will be getting the warranty I needed WITH extra filter equipment to be installed in the kitchen. So, I finally agreed again to install the UE-Tec water filter.
They came the next day and et voila I had the water filter installed at front of my house. As of the backwashing, I only do it every 2 weeks. They suggested to me that I need to do every week, but I really think this is unnecessary since I only live with my wife in the house.
Until now, I have no problem with the water filter. I read on the internet some people are having problem such as sand can be felt when using the taps or the water still dirty after backwashing on different brand of water filters.
Back wash in action

I learned it.

I do not know how ue can give 10 yrs warranty for the valve. It is made in China and I can give max. 2 years warranty only. If it can survives more than 2 years, its a bonus for you. Then for RM2100, may I know what is the tank size in terms of diameter , height , flowrate and type of sand media? Anyway , I can give u as low as RM1450 for the same system with 10 yrs warranty on tanks and 2 yrs 4 d valve. Bro, it is just to filter out the sediments only. Don’t spend so much money. Concerntrate on your drinking water system (get the best purifier that gives u Life Water.

Rashid,

Do you guys hear UltraFiltration before? It can filtered up to 0.01 Micron (bacteria free virus free). No need backwash coz it can automatic flushing everyday.

Hi all, I just bought the UE-tec system, the smallest vessel for RM15++ frm Jusco. The sale exec represented that the vessel is made by Pentair, a US based manufacturer and the vessel is certified by FDA and NSF. I looked at her sales kit to verify that her representation was correct. However, after the purchase, I was given another brochure which I read, from home. It does not mention Pentair, NSF or FDA. In addition, i tried viewing its webpage www.ue-tec.com and could not access. Does anyone know how to find out more information?
September 20th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
huh…..i am oso planing to get UE-TEC, i also been looking to look for more information but couldn’t get much information from the net. I suspect…is this a reliable brand
September 24th, 2007 at 2:12 am
To update, I’ve been using UE-tec for more than 7 months now. As for the reliablity, I couldn’t give much comments on it because my monthly water bill is only around RM6 to RM10 (it’s very low usage and shouldn’t be considered as approved reliablity test).
Until today, the performance hasn’t change from the first day I bought it. It still gives clear water and I only do the backwash every 2 weeks once.
Also, I haven’t hear anybody having problem with EU-TEC. I would, however, want to know any honest negative feedback if there is any.

I bought an Ue-Tec Auto flush unit from 1-U Jusco in early Aug 07. Anyone has any experience with Ue-Tec auto flush unit? My experience is not very good. I am having problem with it and they are suggesting changing to a manual flush head to me.
November 6th, 2007 at 5:35 am
@Leong: It’s too bad that you are having problem with the Auto Flush. As far as I know, there are quite number of people facing trouble with auto backwash units even on other brands of water filter, it seems not that reliable. Wish to have some viewer comments on this.
Hope you will have your problem solved.
December 12th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
well guys,10 years for the vessel warranty is common for most of external backwashing filters, but the “multi port valve” is normally 2 years.
Ue Tec is china product if not mistaken. if possible in future get US patented product since their technologies is far ahead in this water treatment industries.Waterco is actually more specialising in swimming pool since the inlet pipe diameter is bigger hence it will reduce your water pressures.should you guys need more info do email to me at jaegermeifrer@gmail.com

some of my friend use sand filter before, but many of them was changed to diamond master filter. they told me the quality of the sand filter is not good as diamond did.
I was saw the comparison at my friend’s house before. the result is totally different, the water from sand filter have a bit yellow, but diamond filter is totally clean and clear, but my friend’s sand filter is already 1 year, maybe performance drop already.
one of my friend using biopure, this one more worst case, she told me she can TAKE OUT some SANDS from her washing machine. How come a sand can get inside her washing machine. she advise me do not go for biopure filter.
scary for me to listen all this story.
and please choose the outdoor filter that cannot filter chlorine,if your water is chlorine free, your backup tank going to become paradise for bacterial.
if anyone interested to purchase diamond filter, here is my dealer’s website
www.diamondhealthy.com
December 27th, 2007 at 2:09 pm
@Kelvin: Yes, I do agree on not to place chlorine filter before the house water tank.
I had mine by installing the chlorine filter right before the water comes out from the water tap in the kitchen. That’s much better.
January 18th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
I’m having a Bacteria Free Purification system newly installed 3 months ago. It’s a hassle free system that comes with indicators to keep me inform of clean water being used at home. It has a auto flushing system (better than backwash) and best part is at a reasonable price.

Hi Guys,
I am planning to purchase water filter for hse. Bacfree system is twice price of UE-Tec and dont quite like the rocket shape. Please convince me why I should choose Bacfree.
March 8th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
I did some research and found that you should not treat the chlorine from the main if you have a tank in the house. Make sense because tank stores water for many days and can be contaminated without chlorine.
What do you think?
March 8th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
my Experience - I was using bottled RO water supplied by Sparklet at the price of RM6 perbottle. I consumed about 10 a Month.
was convinced by some friend to buy Elken - cost me Rm3600. The water quality is good…no doubt..but in a long run, I find that, it’s too expensive to maintain…example.
the Cediment Filter and Carbon filters need a change every 6Months based on my record..that costs Rm140. After the warranty period ,you need to pay another Rm60 for every service call. That means.. RM400 per year.
You also need to change the external filter every month…which is Rm10 .
The unit has an waste water outlet…which is for every 1 Litter it produces, it throws 3 litter of waster water.
Not only that, I have experienced the unit to be faulty 2 times - once was a electronic swith and then a sensor…Based on the technician, the parts can be expensive..
so, my conclusion..This device gives BAD ROI..biggest mistake to invest on this. Its a never ending thing…you still need to pay to keep this thing running..
I could have just stayed with the Sparklet that give me excellent water..no problems…and if you are loyal customer, you may get a better price…
So, my piece of advice….make sure you ask all this details with the Con mans out there calling themselves, Sales person….before purchasing one…

Hi guys,
I am not sure about all the technical stuff. But for your information, I have been using the backwash water filter that I am using now for quite sometime. The result is quite remarkable for its price. No sand, nothing. It is a China made home water filter. I believe the stigma that says China made products are no good is not necessarily true. They sell cheap products bcoz of their cheap labour not really bcoz of cheap material used. I can tell you something about home water filter. It is overpriced. If you are interested in a china made backwash home water filter priced at RM870.00 complete with installation, email me at syauqi_k@yahoo.com. I will forward u the brochure. But please folks, Klang valley only and the payment terms, cash after installation. Thank You.
March 16th, 2008 at 9:52 am
@naren: I do agree with you on there shouldn’t be any chlorine filter before the water gets into the water tank. What one should do is to have the chlorine filter installed right before the water comes out at the water tap. That works much better.
Too bad that you have gotten yourself into an unwanted maintenance plan with Elken filter, hope you get it sorted out. I too, using around 20 huge bottles of RO water a month at office. We just source it from Delcol and was considering to get a dedicated RO installed at our office. But after reading your comments, I’d think again.

Perhaps you can get more detail about water technology and its effect to our health in this website http://www.oasissuccess.com.my that i found very useful and informative.
Hope it can help you.

Hi People! I was browsing and found this forum. I intend to buy some sort of water filtration system for my home. I have seen alkaline hexagonal high oxygen water thingys too. The more I ask, the more confused I become! Am wondering, do I need a water filtration system at the source of my supply (main pipe from outside the house)and then a separate alkaline high oxygen treatment thingy as well, for drinking water at my kitchen sink? This alkaline high oxgyen thingy is suppose to be able to be drunk right off the tap without boiling. I have seen where the water to be drunk comes out from one tube, and there is water going out as well as waste water (acid water), which is such a waste. Does anyone know if there is a system that does everything in one and no wastage of water? I have been seeing Waterco adverts in the papers so am wondering…. any advice is very much appreciated. Thanks guys!

I am also looking for a water filter and approached UE-Tec in 1-U. The sales lady claims the vacuum mold is better and prevent the sunlight to penetrate the tank.
From what she presents, it is more impressive than WaterCo. But a few concerns:
1. Future service from Ue-Tec as this filter need to change the sand every 2 years or so
2. Water pressure will become much lower after installing the water filter
Please comment
August 26th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
@Chew: If memory serves me well, the sales person whom I engaged with told me that my UE-Tec sand filter should be replaced every 3 or 4 years. I even confirmed this with the filter installer. I think the price for each replacement is around RM300.
As for water pressure, my house consistently gets around 0.4 to 0.5 bar. This indication can be seen at the gauge on top of the filter. It’s quite strong and no difference before and after we got the filter installed.
This coming December will be our second year using the filter. So far, no minor nor major issues with it yet.
September 8th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
if u really need to purchase a water filter after the JBA, I suggest u to talk to the water specialist first cos its depend on individual requirement like wheather u need clean water only or u want to remove smell, clorine, toxic chemical & etc. Not forgeting about back up service and part replacement. Also u prefer manual or automatic version. The place u stay will also determine the size of the vessel and the number of time need back washing. I can be reach at Hp 019-3887133 for further information, quotation and product info under no obligation
September 8th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
water pressure low after installing the filter mainly is due to using sand alone which is to fine and block the strainner thus prevent the clean water going up the tanking.
Another reason is did not do backwashing for quiet some time thus the sediment inside the vessel get harden and stuborn resulting blockage.
Lastly do not do backwashing long enoungh

Anybody knows about these 2 brand? waterhome and smart. Is it using the same technology? I already install the waterhome on trial basis. Price will be rm 1950. Is this ok?
January 5th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
I planned to install a FORMULA II filter system which claim using PVDF membrane technology with backwash capability. Claimed to be able to filter to 0.01um. Cost is about RM3030. Is anyone has experience using this brand of filter? Is it good? reliable? is the cost reasonable? Appreciate your sharing.

Intent to install RO unit. Need advice from Gilbert or anyone which is the best and cheap
February 4th, 2009 at 5:22 pm
fyi, waterco warranty has only 5-year warranty on its tank and 1-year warranty on its valve, not 10 year on tank. 5-year warranty is mention on the warranty booklet. mine crack 1 month before 5 years. so no warranty. now looking for other brand.
February 6th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
I used waterco outdoor filter together with a UF membrane filter since 2000, the UF system jam less than a year, Waterco valve leak 3 years back, so i trade in for ue-tec RP940 , I’m very concern on quality and safeness of the material, the ue-tec manufacturer certificates from iso and nsf convince me, so far i’m happy with the performance.
I use to drink RO water more the 10 year, but lately my wife switch to ionize water, some said RO water acidic no good for health, well is ionize water a good replacement for clean naturer water?..

hi..everyone…free chlorine + organic contaminants = Trihalomethanes(THM)A Cancer Causing Compound.
HydroGuard is the result of over 25 years of R&D and expertise in water treatment and filtration technology and is customized to filter Malaysian waters. Brought to you by Blöndal, the company that was formerly known as Electrolux, HydroGuard gives you safe water, guaranteed!
For your safety and health, all HydroGuard products have been tested and proven safe. International standard requirements like the FDA (Food & Drug Admnistration, USA), NSF* (National Sanitary Foundation USA), ISO 9001/9002 and the like are met.
even i send the water test not follow ‘WHO’(World Organisation std)chlorine shows 2ppm(parts per million)
To combat these harmful compounds, our local water authorities conduct some form of filtration and purification. Chlorine is added to help kill bacteria, and improve the quality of water. Chlorine, although essential to treat water, is extremely harmful when consumed.
It can react with other decaying organic matter such as twigs, leaves, and dead insects creating a dangerous cancer-causing compound called Trihalomethanes (THM).
dont kill family members buying wrong products….
I have the photos that i change brand a to hydroguard….
if you need then i can send email….hope be careful…thks.

Hi, Anybody has experienced SMART products ? reliable ? price-wise, competitive or not ? thanks
March 9th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
Hi,ahmad.I’m sorry if I offence u,but u look more like a hydroguard salesman than a genuine customer to me.Actually, before I decided to purchase a good water filter…I went to Jusco home centre to get more information,at that time there’s Nesh,Ue tec & hydroguard. So,I went to each of the stall to enquire.By,the way,I’m quite happy with the explaination done by Nesh & ue tec sales personal(Nesh-using membrane system,Ue tec-using sand system)except for hydroguard.I doesnt like the way they do the presentation because they like to sabotage other’s people product & showing all the photos taken(faulty unit from other brand). As I’m also in salesline,I can understand this is part of the tactic in order to persuade the end users. However,I doesnt really like the way they talk(coz the whole explaination is only concentrate of sabotaging). As i were about to leave out of homecentre, one of the Ue tec salesgirl offered me a Free trial promotion(for 14 dys). The main point that captured me to give a try is because of her salestalk.Very professional & knowlegable(as she claim that she has been with Ue tec for 12 years)
Well,it’s been about 3 years from now(after my confirmation)…I’m happy with it,so far so good. And last week, when I went to homecentre again to buy some stuff,I’m surprise to see that Hydrouard & Nesh stall are no longer there except for Ue tec.
Well,I can be sure that I have make a good choice, after all I still can see the Ue tec brand up to date, that makes me even have more confidence.

Hello Guys,
This is a new and upcoming water company in town that I have been considering for the past few months. Jantzen Ultra Filtration, I talked to their sales girl couple months ago and they were explaining about how filtration unit works and how many types of filters our there (they really know their stuff).
So some explanation on the filtration. Ultra Filtration, the most advance filtration membrane that is out in Malaysia market as of currently. Is able to filter down to 0.001 micron of particles in your water! So I was asking la… how the hell do you prove it? just say only ma… so they introduced me to their “Purity Checker”, which is a device attached right after their filtration unit. It acts as a gauge to prove that the water filtration unit is clean, they even install it for free on your existing filter (i.e. if you have an existing one at home). If you purchase their product, and if the ‘purity checker’ changes color, the company will give you a 3 year warranty on parts. So I had the option to test the product out for 30 days or money back. So no worries.
So had the installation done on ‘purity checker’ on my existing Diamond Master filter. Got the shocked of my life after it turned brown in a week or so. So I quickly got on the phone and called this company to give me a free trial. Everyday went and look at the purity checker, no color change at all! The technician really knows his stuff, goes by the name ‘Mr. Chu’. Advised me on how to install the filter, upright or sideways and how the piping should go.
After 30 days, decided to go for the system. Had a package of RM 2880, this package involves a maintenance service every 4 months. Last month, my maintenance service was due, got a call from this company and scheduled an appointment. The friendly technician came, cleaned the membrane and left.
I was not home due to work, but I knew they did the work. How? This is the best part! Attached with the service note, there was 3 pictures of Jantzen technician cleaning the filter at MY house. Wow! Then I made it a point to keep introducing this filter to my friends already.
Pros
-0.001 micron filtration
-Gauge to check the functionality of your filter
-Great service (Still wondering how they do their photo printing and taking the photo)
-9 free maintenance service included into the price w/ 3 years guarantee on parts
Cons
-not famous
April 4th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
How many people here would be interested in a water filtration system that doesn’t need to use pipe water, and will give you pure drinking water with naturally high oxygen content? We are expecting the price to be around RM1500.
My company is looking to import it here so we would like some feedback for sales and marketing purposes.
April 9th, 2009 at 10:39 pm
I am from one of the water filter companies in Malaysia. Will leave the company soon cause start new carrier as mechanical engineer. For me, sand filter is cheap but not very efficient. The best is membrane system (PVDF thingy) but cost is high. My advice, if you have budget, go for membrane (Jantzen maybe) and if your pocket got halves of the amount, go for sand filter (UE, waterco etc). For POU filter, my advice is install 6 cart. filter which is come with akaline, mineral, oxygen rich and etc. Do not invest on RO. The water is acidic. Maintenance..blood sucking. I am using Bio Aura by Hai O…got advertisement in TV3 and TV9 on friday night. It has some therapy effect also (read mingguan wanita).

Salam n Hola
Wow, such a wealth of information about water filter from just one single post.
I have a Pentair water filter installed at my parents home. They came and had the unit installed for trial for two weeks and the rest is history.
It’s been more than a couple of years now since the unit was installed. No problems yet, alhamdulillah.
Have never really given too much thought on the quality of water we consume. I mean, we’ve all lived for so long with the basically the same water.
Yes, the water is probably not completely clean, fresh, energetic.. whatsoever.
But the question is.. have there really been true clinical study that shows that the water we’re consuming is really really bad for our health?
Is it all just a marketing gimmick by all the many water filter makers in the world? I mean… water is the source of life.. that makes it a multi million dollar industry..
Having said the above. I do have to admit, I do have a water filter in my home. I have a Dr Sukida. Got it as a gift. That costs like what? I think somewhere around RM1800?
I know its doing it’s job since my water now contains no sediments and the external filter turns brown every month or so.
Still, RM1800 for a water filter? And then the annual maintenance cost of the individual filter units? Some even offer loan schemes.
I do think it’s all hyped up a bit too much.
Hey, I’m not saying that all the filter in the market is not good. They are probably really as good as they claim to be. Not an issue there.
Just wondering.. should it cost as much as it is today?
Yes, I now have Hexagon Water Filter on offer.

Greetings Everyone,
Talking about our water quality and type of water filter / water treatment system we should use at our home are never ending discussion.
It is no doubt that water utility companies use chlorine as their method to disinfect bacteria in the water. However, in return, chlorine is proven to cause colon cancer which already rank #3 or 4 in this country as cause of death. Furthermore, contaminants in the water is not only chlorine. Radon, PCSB, MBTE, lead, mercury to name a few. Knowing this fact, it will be very silly not to have any water filter at all installed at our house.
Rivers as our sources of water supply have been very much polluted these days. And I am not just making it up. You may read articles from major newspaper in the country. Now and then, they print out articles about this issues.
So, it might be true that there is no publicized studies on our water quality. But are you all willing to put the health and life of your family and yourself at a stake to save a few thousands RM?
A few months back, I went to Syabas’ office to get a report of our water quality. They turned down my request. For me, it was very strange. As their customer, I have a right to know the quality of water that I’ve been paying every month. And logically, if there is nothing wrong with their water, why should they be so reluctant to disclose it?
I’ve been taking a precautions measure since one of my child had to hospitalized due to water-borne bacteria infections. My family has been using a water treatment system from Amway (WTS-2) for the past 6-7 years. So, far alhamdulillah, it does well in providing the best and safest drinking water for my family.
WTS-2 is a point of use (PoU) water treatment system. Basically, it is installed at the water faucet at kitchen sink. It is very convenient to use. You can drink directly from its filtered outlet. Aside from using pressed activated carbon, WTS-2 uses UV light to kill bacterias, viruses and cysts in the water. The strength of its UV is 80 millijoules/cm², more than the standard of 30-40 millijoules/cm². The nicest thing about this WTS-2, it still can retain mineral in the water. The flow rate of filtered is very satisfying, up to 3.4 liter/minute. And no water is wasted.
So, far, my cost per liter +/- RM 0.25. It definitely beats the price of those bottled mineral water that charge us average of RM 2.00 per liter. And we all can rest assured about the quality of the water since we can see ourselves the treatment process.
And yes, WTS-2 (and the 3rd generation of Amway WTS, eSpring) has passed NSF’s yearly rigorous tests and earned NSF standard 42, 53 and 55. It also earn certification from WQA. Don’t just take my words. You may surf to www.nsf.org and www.wqa.org to see the test results.
To know more, you may go to www.espring.com or e-mail me @ mramadhian@gmail.com to see the product.
Thank you.

To them whom may give a concern on this. It has been more than 2 years since I published this post. A little update would be good.
My UE-Tech is now 2 and 1/2 years old. And yet, it has shown no sight of significant problems. Everything is working just fine.
As for my sister whom using Blondal Hydroguard, that too gives no problem to her. She said, it’s working perfectly fine until today.
If I were to suggest, I’d say just go with any brand that already long enough in the market. You will be on the safe side.
But if you are like me, giving chances to Malaysian company selling good product, then it’s entirely different story. Just like I did when UE-Tech had only came out last time.
All the best!

Hi everyone.
The question of whether having chlorine in the pipelines is good or not? I recalled a system being erected in a Coca-Cola factory years ago contained chlorine in their pipelines just before the RO system. This is to keep the bacteria and viruses in check before the water goes into the RO system as these viruses and bacterias will cause the RO membranes to foul.
As for the residential usage, most water treatment company would come up with 2 category of home filters namely PoE & PoU. The PoE serves as a pre-treatment for your home. Depending on the media that is used, various impurities in the water can be removed. For example, Carbon is used to remove chlorine, smell and taste. Anthracite & sand is used to trap suspended solids/contaminants, reduce turbidity and improve water quality. Manganese Greensand is used to reduce iron level which causes rust smell and yellowish colour in tap water. Zeolite is used to reduce the hardness of the water. Knowing the water quality of your area would help you decide which filter media that is really needed.
With the rise in the labour cost in the Western countries, most big players in the world is shifting their productions away from their own countries. Pentair water is a US brand which has acquired several FRP tank manufacturer companies and re-branding it to their name. The smooth tanks like the one Fandy installed is the original Structural tank from USA. Having said that, Pentair has opened up a FRP tank manufacturing facility in China producing the non-smooth tanks. I would believe that the World market domination of China made FRP tanks would be around 60% as the prices of the tanks are much cheaper.
For those considering Auto Flush units, I would suggest you guys to go for the same manual type that Fendy has installed as it is hassle free. To replace a manual valve for your sand filters is much cheaper than an Auto unit. Most auto units tend to allow untreated water into your homes during backwash. This is a design requirement in US therefore, all auto units manufactured in US has this ability to allow 10-20% of the untreated water into your homes during backwash.
Also, certain automatic valves has a problem with their motors. The motors would tend to give way in 1 to 2 years time and it’s quite a hassle to find a replacement for it. If there was, it would cost a bomb for a small motor that would cost a few bucks at Pasar Road.
As for the PoU, this would be the filter that plays the most important part as you would be consuming it. As there is a wide range of PoU’s available in the market, it would be wise to choose a range of filters that retains the minerals in the water as our body needs minerals.
Hope this information is helpful for you guys.
Cheers.
Richard

Noticed not much said about Diamond filters….anybody out there have any bad experience with it?

Fantastic to get to this forum. 3 moonths ago, I moved to my renovated house in OUG, but did not install any water filter, until one day, brownish water . I then I realised my tanki is filled with the ‘brownish water’. I quickly reinstall the POU filter (2-filter type RM100) brought over from previous house. Within 1 week of using this set of filters (for drinking and cooking only), the intake filter has turned half- bownish! Now I am looking for POE filte. I just retruned from explanation by UE salegirl at Mid valley. In resposne for my inquiry for final healthy water for the family, and my comment on no signifcant reduction in water pressure (water pressure is low at the double storey houses of OUG), she recommended installing the UE system at POE and another POU with ceramic and carbon)only at the kitchen sink. Seem good idea. Fortunate to find this forum to follow feedback on reliability of the UE filter POE system (I’d prefer the casing made form poly rather than fibre) Pse comment on the fibre and poly container for water filter

Have anyone heard about GE POE system? it came across recently in my search of outdoor filtration system. Other brands I am considering include.
1. GE: my 1st choice now, as it include tank washing FOC and comparable price to diamond and Waterco. Beside, it’s branded under GE but i’m still verifing this part as I saw some of the tank was labelled “Nanopure”, anyone heard and using it??
2. HydroGuard: Local brand & price on the high side. require change of filter every 2 yr (vs 5yr for GE), 3 layer sand filter (as per their web) vs GE’s 5 layers.
3. WaterCo.: Reasonable price but after checking their web, i think GE & Hydroguard have better filter system
4. UE-Tec: just learned from the threads here, need to do visit Jusco and research again..
Anyone care to comment the brands above, especially GE (seem nobody talk about it). I need to make decision in 2 days before moving this weekend.
thanks.

I bought Waterco filter 5 years back at Jusco. After doing some research, I found that Waterco originated from Australia and at that time, you could see their advertisement all around.
Fast forward, 5 years later, the body of the tank is leaking. It is back in Dec 2009. Till now, they have yet to give me the replacement despite the warranty. They also have all sorts of excuses for the warranty, and denying me a full warranty claim, requiring me to pay RM450 initially, which later I managed to reduce to RM250.
To summarise, their after sales service is really bad. So, a big NO NO for Waterco.

1.GE Is a brand from USA…BUT no this product are manucfacturer in china..NANOPURE IS just a INHOUSE BRAND!
2.hYDROGUARD..local brand , for the filter change, we recomended it change 2year….because the life span for carbon will be exhausted…unless you are using the sand only…all life no need change… ( but for drinking/washign purpose, is better we change the filter media)
3.No comend about the price, but is that u wan spend 1700 just for outdooor filter?how about inside?drinking?
4.UE Tec is same on the above ..only is how u chose a good product with reasonable price!

Hi everyone, what i see from the past till now, they have actually high competition in the water filter industry. But for me to see, they are all almost the same function to perform. The different only the advertisement that affect the product selling.
Poeple actually also have to consider the yearly MAINTAINANCE COST before choosing a water filter. Here, i got the outdoor sand filter for only RM 950 fully installation and also indoor water filter direct from the water tap that cost only for RM 800 fully installation.
If interested to know more about, kindly sent me a mail on this: watersolutionz@gmail.com…I will sent u the brouchure and assist u as much as possible for the product.(Price shows strictly for Klang Valley area only.)
Thank you.
