Procedures of embracing Islam in Seremban
One Timer February 14th, 2007My lovely wife is a Chinese and had converted to Muslim before we got married. She did the conversion procedure at Pejabat Dakwah Paroi, Negeri Sembilan. It is a place within Seremban vicinity.
I helped her through out the process of adaptation. I called and inquired quite lots number of people before we essentially do anything.
At first, we had thought that the process would be difficult but it was entirely simple and straightforward. Also, the people at the officials are very friendly and helpful. They even joke a little bit so that my wife wouldn’t feel too nervous.
With slight help from me and mostly she did on her own, my wife had successfully converted to Muslim. How did she do it, I will elaborate it in this post.
Before we went to the Pejabat Dakwah, I taught my wife how to ‘Mengucap Dua Kalimah Shahada’. It is a verse used as testimonial of faith. This verse is basically very short but in order to embrace Islam, it must be pronounced in confidence and with no stutter or further delay.
The ‘Shahada’ can be declared as follows:
“ASH-HADU ANLA ELAHA ILLA-ALLAH WA ASH-HADU ANNA MOHAMMADAN RASUL-ALLAH”.
The English translation is:
“I bear witness that there is no deity (none truly to be worshipped) but, Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah”.
Pejabat Dakwah
Once my wife is okay with the verse, we head off to Pejabat Dakwah bringing along 4 license-size photos and 2 copies of photo stated I/C. At the place, there was this ‘Imam’ named Ustad Din, perform the conversion for my wife. Before he began, he had given advice about how being a Muslim can benefit a person and the surrounding people. Then, he told a little bit description on how Islam can be related on daily activities. Personally, at that time after listening he talked, I myself learned few new things.
After that, Ustad Din taken out a paper and asked my wife to fill her personal detail in together with her new Muslim name. On that paper too, there is written ‘Shahada’ verse that my wife had practiced earlier. Also, there was a paragraph stating that no one had forced my wife to embrace Islam
He then, had asked my wife to follow him pronounce the ‘Shahada’. Her first try did not go smoothly. However, she did it great on the second time. Once that had completed, Ustad Din asked my wife to drop a signature on the paper. He later pasted one of the photos on the paper and stamped it.
Legitimately a Muslim
That was everything; my wife is now officially a Muslim. The office administrator said that for the time being, the stamped paper can be used as official document for my wife Muslim status. They will issue the proper card in a month time.
Another worth mention thing about the Pejabat Dakwah is that, they organize a 1-week monthly session for those who are new to Muslim. In this session, they will guide how to pray and all other related things about Islam. I myself in fact had been thinking to join the session just to further add my understanding towards Islam.
We learned it.

Hi Kim,
Congratulations on your wedding this June.
As for your question, I didn’t mention this on my blog. Actually there was this one moment where my wife needs to go to Mahkamah Syariah and confirm before the judge that her father and her father’s brothers are not Muslim.
If there’s one, he can in fact become Wali for my wife. Since there is none, hence the Judge assigned one for her, the Wali Hakim. Usually, in each jurisdiction or daerah there should be one Wali Hakim.
After the Mahkahmah Syariah session, a letter will be issued under my wife’s name and needed to show to the Pejabat Agama to perform Akad Nikah.
Hope this helps, and do share your wedding photos, ya..

Hello Umi,
As for the classes my wife had attended, they weren’t compulsory. However, by attending it my wife learned it better than me explaining to her. I’d highly recommend in attending these classes.
I’m sure, you can tell the Pejabat Dakwah of your situation and they definitely will sort things out for you.
Good luck!
