Back in November 2006, my wife and I had moved into our new house and certainly as a Software Programmer myself, I’m gonna need to have Internet connection at home.

Reading lots of complaints made about how TMnet Streamyx handles their new applications have making me rather worried in getting my Streamyx. While most of the TMNet users did get their Streamyx at acceptable time of completion, some might just experienced the contrary.

One case, my brother in Seremban had waited 6 months just to have the broadband available at his house even though his neighbours had it since ages. In another situation, a friend of mine staying in Kota Damansara had waited 1 year and half to get Streamyx when his uncle house located just few hundred meters away had already have broadband at home. Absurd?

I will describe the methods of how I’ve gotten my Streamyx in the fastest of time.

Crossing my finggah’

Still in desperation to have my broadband available, I went on submitting my application by calling Damansara Clickers. The lady on the phone said I probably need to wait up to 3 weeks in order to get my Streamyx up. I tend not to agree with her but having no choice, I can only tell her to please speed up the process so that I do not actually need to wait that long.

After waited for 3 days, I called the centre again to check my status. The person on the phone told me that my house is out of the 5KM radius. It may take sometimes before somebody will pull the cable to my house area. Feeling devastated, I just agreed and cross my finger hoping that they can make it done ASAP.

Another 2 days had gone by. I started to feel uneasy of this matter. I called them again and ask the status of my application and they just replied me with the same answer. Feeling annoyed, I immediately instructed them to remove my application at period effect. I told them that I don’t want to wait any longer and want them to remove my application from the system.

Lady Luck Shines

The person on the phone was little bit hesitated in obeying my request but had just to do it. I said that I will check with him in another 1 hour to make sure that he had done it. And soon, the best part started to kick in: I received a call from the same guy at Clickers after 3-4 minutes. He so suddenly said that my house already got line and ready to be installed.

I was definitely surprised but did not ask him why because I really want to have my broadband. I instantly said, “Okay, you can let the installer come and fix my Streamyx anytime”. He made an appointment that the installer will come in 2 days time. The installer came the very next day and everything was done in matter of hours. I got my Streamyx exactly 7 days after the application submission.

So to summarize, this should be done in order to make your Streamyx available at home at a very fast period of time;

  1. Make sure that your nearby neighbours already have Streamyx at home.
  2. Submit application to Damansara Clickers.
  3. Call them and ask of the status 2-3 days later.
  4. If they give the reason that your house is out of the 5KM radius, you tell them that you want to cancel the application in a serious tone.
  5. By goodness of luck, they will definitely call you back to say that already have the connection at your home.
  6. If they never call you back, go to Shah Alam TMpoints. I never heard anyone who applied over there had to wait for a very long time. I just realised this recently.

I can only think one reason why this had happened. When I told them to cancel my application, I figured that they weren’t willing to lose a customer and at the same time lose the commission fee out of it.

I learned it.
